Common Issues & FAQ

We get a lot of PM’s and emails with your requests to help fix problems regarding windows 7 loader. And now we will review the most common problems:

1. Check if you have installed KB971033 windows update if yes, delete it. This update is designed to detect loader so make sure it’s deleted from your system. If you install loader having this update you probably get not genuine error.

2. Many people get problems with MBR or Not Genuine Error (Black Desktop saying windows not genuine). Before installing loader you can use MBR Regenerator to reset windows back to 30 days trial. You find it easily on our website HERE.

3. If you have to verify with one of the offers and there is this error: “there are no offers for your country” please go to this link to download the file: http://  (delete one space after http://)

4. WINDOWS UPDATE SERVICE NOT WORKING: We noticed that microsoft maybe released update which stops windows update service from working, but we have a solution: open command line (cmd) in administrator mode and type “net stop wuauserv” without quotes to stop update service. Then type “net start wuauserv” this command restarts windows update service and you should get your updates now. Hope it works for you all!

Alternative is to use this clever microsoft tool which can fix many problems related to windows update:

We will add more solutions in the future..

UEFI motherboards support

The activator don’t work when your hard drive using GPT format. The solution is to format your drive to use MBR.

From your BIOS select to boot the Windows DVD without UEFI, press and hold SHIFT and then press F10 and then enter this:

list disk
select disk 0
convert mbr
create partition primary
select partition 1
format fs=ntfs quick

Boot Windows 7 iso like you do always and then  installal Windows. After windows are installed then you can then install daz loader.

To force windows 7 boot without triggering UEFI use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. Once the USB is created just delete bootmgr.efi from the USB and then try to boot from it.

Server 2012 (R2) problems and how to solve them

Starting with OS – Server 2012 range MS required the RSDP to be in read only memory. Because of this there are limitations.

* PC’s with already existing SLIC  data in their BIOS should work.
* Systems with an Intel CPU’s have succeeded before because they chipsets prone to lock picking.
* PC’s with an AMD CPU’ can get problems activating if they doesn’t have an existing SLIC in their BIOS.
* If the loaders cmd shows “v2.3” or “v2.2” but pc still not activated then you probably having problems with compatibility

To convert Windows Server 2012 from evaluation edition you should use this command:

DISM /online /Set-Edition:<edition ID> /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula

Here is an example:

DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerDatacenter /ProductKey:B8BRN-RUI6P-BVTBM-89P9Y-XQRTH /AcceptEula

Your pc probably have to be restarted 2 times before loader will do it’s job.

Recovery after failed bootup – BLACK SCREEN

Is Windows 7 are failing to boot after you installed the windows 7 activator newest version? Just try doing these steps:

  1. Boot up computer using your selected Windows 7  iso file.
  2. Press and hold your SHIFT key and after that press F10.
  3. Writing this should help “bootsect.exe /nt60 SYS /force” (just write without quotes).
  4. And finally restart your PC.

Attention! If steps you followed aren’t fixing booting problems you have to try using this command “bootsect.exe /nt60 ALL /force”. Make sure before using this command that all flash drives and memory cards are removed.

Also you can try holding the “R” key after your BIOS screen. If you press it at the right time then you’ll see a boot menu also there could be other options depending on your pc model. Boot and from menu select to booting without SLIC.

Good luck if you have any other issues write us and we will add them here!

current status is that it let me login, activation status is “no relevant information”, product key “not available”
(wordings maybe different as i use non-english windows)

i use Dazloader, after clicking install, it told me “The serial wasn’t successfully installed.”

Advanced options “Ignored the existing SLIC” checked

“MBR Regenerator v4.5” also tried and no luck

please advise if i need to re-install

i swear i wont let microsoft earn a cent even i try to re-install 100 times

    • DAZLoader says:

probably you caught an update which detects loaders check updates listed on our site if you have them, remove them, use mbr and try activating again.

      • MTL_dude says:

I am having same issue. Been working for years and now got blacklisted. I deleted the only update you guys say to delete, I did run MBR. Now on trial, I run the loader I get: the certificate wasnt succefully installed. Any tips please?

  6. German says:

  11. Mark says:

    Hi, i’m facing some problems:
I installed the loader, but then I can’t boot windows anymore. So I type bootsect.exe /nt60 SYS /force and reboot, but of course it isn’t activated anymore. So I opened cmd as administrator and typed in “bcdedit /set {default} bootstatuspolicy ignoreshutdownfailures”. Then I ran the loader again, but windows couldn’t load anymore again.
So, i installed the MBR Regenerator, and i ran the loader again, but it broke the boot sector again. What can I do? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your help!!

    • DAZLoader says:

hi, don’t select any settings on loader and check your motherboard some can’t use loader because of they have only uefi boot mode, in this case you need to ask somebody to make you custom bios

  12. Andreas says:

Do you think that there will be a solution for us with UEFI bios without the pre-format workaround?

  13. Hewlbern says:

Hi Great Loader. Reinstalled and accidentally updated windows.
Deleted the update that checks for the loader but it still wont work.

    What should I do?

  14. Joel says:

I’m having a hard time understanding how this works, i have a win7 that i used rufus to create ISO MBR partition scheme for UEFI but it’s not activating. And when I use your loader it saids unsupported partition. My MOBO is EUFI and i have no idea how to disable secure boot. My motherboard is an msi b85

    • DAZLoader says:

ok just install simple windows 7 into usb using rufus, dont use scheme for uefi just simple iso image and after installation use loader it should work

      • Joel says:

So use gpt on Rufus? I thought gpt partitions dont work with your loader? Btw my nvidia experience driver keeps crashing with every win7 do you know what could be the cause of this? Thanks

        • DAZLoader says:

oh sorry missed the part that you use GPT no it won’t work on gpt only mbr, about video card it could be drivers or hardware issue too..

  15. Ben says:

Does DAZ Loader block a hypervisor from running on activated Windows?

Hi, I migrated a Win7ult x64 installation on a laptop from failing disk to a new one, and had to use the DAZ loader to make it genuine again (the sticker with product code was all scratched off in my travels).

And now it cannot create or run 64-bit VirtualBox guests (could do it before migration though). And also bcdedit says “The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The system cannot find the file specified.”

Are such issues known effects of the DAZ loader (e.g. does it “hypervise” the booted Windows to coerce it into thinking it is activated and thus blocks running another hypervisor inside), or is the root cause elsewhere in my setup or migration routine?

PS: “dism” rightly says the hyper-v feature is not known in Win7 so there is nothing to disable on this front 😉

    PPS: Comments yield HTTP-500 🙁

    • DAZLoader says:

hi our db was down for a bit.. so how windows 7 activation worked it checked for a serial in bios/system level and then matched in the servers etc. we implement serial in the bios so it looks like this pc was originally with windows 7.. however there was some updates which might include another detection system, but for most users it works fine.

There could be issues with your migration to another hdd you should reformat hdd completely and install fresh copy of windows..

  16. george gerak says:

    • DAZLoader says:

restart pc few times after doing cmd commands, sometimes update service get stuck, also try stopping and rerunning from control panel

  18. chris2u says:

I didn’t think that KB971033 was a problem with Windows Loader?
Just checked, and I have had it installed since 30/08/2013 and I can validate Windows on line with no problems..

    • DAZLoader says:

sometimes you can sometimes you don’t if you activated your windows you can install it usually, but if your windows isn’t activated with that update and you try to install license it can interrupt the process..

  19. G says:

    Hi Daz,
I wish a happy new year!

I have the update problem with windows 7 pro and I have done the start and stop upd service

” open command line (cmd) in administrator mode and type “net stop wuauserv” without quotes to stop update service. Then type “net start wuauserv” this command restarts windows update service and you should get your updates now”

many times but I can’t get any update!!
    Just checking…. for them.

Is there any other solution for this?
The windows have been activated with no problem.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    • DAZLoader says:

try disabling it from a control panel, also from cmd.. It can get buggy sometimes you can stop update restart pc and then start update, try these combinations with restarting pc, i saw some cases that this works from like 10th time..

      • G says:

        Dear Daz,

I tried more than 10 times the disable-enable and restart method with no results.
Also I run the Microsoft fixit 50123 and windows update diagnostic and
        the error is 0x80070005.
Do you think that I can find a way to start the updates?

  20. Doris says:

MBR REgen and daz222 still work even though KB976902 remains installed after regen. Happy new year to daz!

  21. Doris says:

Win7 ult. Hi, Thank you daz for a brilliant tool. I have only 2 updates loaded

and I have the black desktop and with the not-genuine error. I guess they may be rollups with KB971033 among them. Will delete both and use new 2.2.2

    • Ben says:

Microsoft validate cannot recognize my windows 7 ultimate genuine

      • DAZLoader says:

you trying to valide your windows with microsoft tool? are you insane of course it will show that this license key is not valid but for default validation tool it will work just fine.. Just install loader and leave it be.. Now probably you have to run MBR regenerator to clean a Mbr

  24. Larry says:

Hello Daz, I have used your loader version 2.2.1 to activate installions of windows 7 SP1 trial on many real computers and it has always worked flawlessly. Congratulations and thank you. However, I am now trying to activate the same operating system installed on Windows Virtual PC, downloaded as KB958559-x86-RefreshPkg.msu. The loader reports success but upon reboot Windows is not activated. I have tried all the suggestions in the readme and on this site, but no luck. Of course, Windows is controlling the re-boot of the virtual PC, so maybe they now have something in the above download to check the activation during reboot. Have you tested it on Windows Vitual PC? I will try it on VirtualBox next and see if that works.
    Thank you again,

    • DAZLoader says:

There could be so many thing with virtual pc’s.. if i remember bios are loading each time as a fresh pc so you have to modify them to stay the same..

  25. Paulo says:

Where can I download Windows Loader 2.4 by Daz?

  26. paulvzo says:

The loader works beautifully………except the online Windows Verification comes up as not valid. While my 7 is operating beautifully and gets updates fine, the 10 page says I’m not validated.

I found a key extractor and I get a message that the author of says indicates that the key has not been written to the BIOS. Yet, your loader and all the support says it must have the ability to do so, write to the BIOS.

Suggestions? (And MANY thanks for at least what I’ve got now!)

  27. Kakwann says:

i did something wrong for sure… i deleted the update KB971033 and installed the Windows Loader 2.2.2. I have now an activated copy of windows7 (youpi!) and no watermark or anything else. Problem is, i still can’t update with windows update. I tried the “net stop” “net start” wuauserv in the CMD, in admin mode. I did reboots and system restaure(in case i did something wrong) but i can’t seem to be able to do any Windows update.

    • DAZLoader says:

how long did you waited after stopping? you could wait for an half an hour restart pc and then start windows update service

  28. John says:

Today’s windows update installed 9 things for me, one of them gave me the ‘This copy is not genuine’ error after restarting, would you be able to identify which of these updates I should remove? (I’ve rolled back with system restore for now)

KB3112343 (Labeled update, not security update)

    • DAZLoader says:

      we will check them out

    • DS87 says:

I received the same not genuine after 25 updates. I have narrowed it down to these so far.
one of these 3 is the culprit. a system restore point is needed here as a uninstall will not remove the message. i will install these one at a time and hopefully install the 2 that do not cause the not genuine message first. will let you now what i find.

    • DS87 says:

      And the winner is “kb3109094”

      • DAZLoader says:

thanks for sharing in some systems it does nothing but we will add this to the first page because some users have problems with it

  29. quetzalcoatl67 says:

Al instalar el loader me sale el siguiente mensaje:

    Yes or NO?

  30. Brian says:

Hi Daz, I had used a older version to activate my windows 7 couple months ago (version 1.7.5). Now there is v2.2.2 is out.

Do you suggest me doing the whole install thing again? (Maybe new version fixes the bugs / loopholes of older version?)

Also, can I do windows update if I used your loader to activate windows?

    • DAZLoader says:

Hi Brian if windows activated you can leave them, unless you have any problems then you should download v2.2.2 and for windows update you can update your windows or even upgrade to windows 10 with no problem just don’t install that KB971033 update

  31. Franck says:

    Clarify KB971033

    I installed W7 offline
    I installed Window loader

I sent back the PC to my friend telling him now you install yourself all patches from microsoft and you UNCHECK KB971033.

He did it, but KB971033 was already unchecked.

Confirm you did it (ban this update) during install of WL.

    Thank you

  32. Duncan says:

Hi, your tools is great, but only I encountered some problem recently……

i am using a fujitsu boards Model D2750-A2, if just installing win7 by applying the loader is 100% fine. Need to know what if I have my own Serial number need to install with the same serial, how can this being done? As every time when applied my own OEM serial Number, it stated Not Activated. Hope you can help.

    • DAZLoader says:

hi if you have a working serial key you don’t need our loader, all you have to do start loader uninstall it and go to my computer properties scroll down a bit and enter your original license key

      • Duncan says:

Hi Daz, Sorry for the late reply. I think I may had confused you.

What I am trying to say is once I install using my own working License Key, it will stated ” You Have 30 Days To Activate Your Windows” But once used your loader, It stated Activated which is Fine, but it replaced My original License Key, as I am reformatting and need to used back the original License without calling microsoft.

What I understand from your reply, is it

        1. Install Windows using my own key.
        2. Run Loader then click uninstall
        3. Computer Properties will show Windows Activated?

        • DAZLoader says:

No, just install windows use your key and that’s all activation checks online if the key is correct and activates your windows

  33. Dimerz says:

Windows update has been taking forever to check for updates and it still hasnt found any. I also had a error earlier but then unchecked a box and it started to search for updates. But its still looking!

    • DAZLoader says:

as said again and again this could be microsoft way trying to stop you from updating but just stop windows update service in cmd and restart it and everything should work fine

  34. Jim says:

I need help with this issue
Error Details using volume ID (harddiskVolume1)

  35. Freddy says:

Hi, thanks for the Loader, works well … but I seem to have a problem. The KB971033 was not there in the installed history, so I didn´t have to delete it. But then I put Windows Update to search for updates, just for “hiding” the mentioned update, and it keeps searching and never ends. Stays on “Searching for Updates”. Any idea what´s wrong ?

    • DAZLoader says:

hi google for commands to stop windows update then stop update service and start update service.. That should restart update service and everything should work
